The Behind-the-Scenes Reality of Flight School

Meet Kristy -

Hey there I’m Kristy Nordkvelle-Combs, a 23-year-old student pilot at Pilot Flight Academy. I’m passionate about aviation, storytelling, and sharing the real, unfiltered journey of learning to fly. Originally from Portsmouth, UK, I chose to pursue a career in aviation because becoming a pilot felt like the perfect way to blend my love of science, problem-solving, and exploring new places into one exciting career. It’s been a challenging, exciting, and deeply rewarding ride so far and I’m just getting started.

Outside the classroom, you’ll usually find me cooking/baking new recipes in the kitchen on campus, riding my bike around Torp Airport, or relaxing with fellow students - whether we’re watching a movie or firing up the BBQ on the terrace.

This blog is my little corner of the internet where I’m going to document flight school life, the exciting milestones, the tough days, and everything in between.
